Human capability building at ATD26
Sharing lessons from national human capability initiatives.
Participation details (Arabic)I’m Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Tamimi. My career in human resources spans more than twenty years, progressing from early roles in training to leadership responsibilities across several sectors, including leading HR at the Ministry of Investment. Today, I lead talent acquisition and development at SEVEN, a Public Investment Fund company, where I am building talent systems for corporate and operational teams at its entertainment destinations.
Alongside my work, I share my experience at local, regional and international conferences and through television, radio and podcasts. I write here about people, leadership and work, drawing on an ongoing professional journey.

Developing the HR function to support an organization’s direction, growth and change.
Establishing teams, policies and systems, and connecting them with recruitment, learning and development strategies.
Developing recruitment strategies for corporate and operational business needs.
Identifying leadership talent, assessing readiness and preparing people for future responsibilities.
Creating learning systems tied to roles, competencies and business needs.
Psychometric assessment, assessment centers, career counselling and career paths.
Experience with committee responsibilities and related governance.
Connecting performance with development and building competency frameworks.
Early work, varied experiences and a career that grew in human resources.
I earned a bachelor’s degree, studying linguistics, translation and English literature. That background supported my work in communication, knowledge sharing and engaging with international HR practices.
I began working and supporting myself at an early age, combining work with my university studies. I worked in mobile phone shops, at an internet café during university, and as a reservations agent during holidays through the “Friends of Saudi Arabia” program. Those beginnings taught me responsibility and how to work with people.
After graduation, I began my career in HR and training. Early experiences in volunteering and training administration led to training coordination and translation at Vinnell, then work on Saudization and HR development in tourism. Moving to Elm was an important step: my responsibilities grew from training to leading a team covering recruitment, performance management, learning and development.
At Mobily, I worked on competencies and career paths during transformation projects. At Bahri, my scope expanded to organizational design, workforce planning, pay structures and HR automation.
At the Ministry of Investment, I led HR during its transition from an authority to a ministry. My responsibilities included building and developing the HR function, supporting recruitment growth, assessing leaders and contributing to the Investment Academy. I then moved to SEVEN to build talent acquisition, learning and development systems from the ground up, supporting the readiness of corporate and operational teams at its entertainment destinations. Each stage broadened my responsibilities and added a new dimension to my leadership experience.
As my experience grew, I began sharing more of what I had learned beyond the organizations where I worked. I do that through writing, conferences, professional discussions, media appearances, podcasts and career counselling, so others can learn from the experience and build on it.
I’m proud of every stage, whether successful or not, because each one shaped my experience.
