The Blog Is Back

In June 2012, I published my first post here, titled “In God’s Name, We Begin.” The WordPress template came with the phrase “Just another WordPress blog,” and I remember writing that this was the last thing I wanted. I wanted to share what I had learned in HR, contribute useful content in Arabic, and learn through researching and writing.

I had around eight or nine years of experience then and felt I had knowledge and experiences worth sharing. Today, after more than twenty-two years of work, I have more experiences to write about, and the desire to share what I know is still there.

A Blog in the Age of Podcasts?

Today, I’m relaunching the blog in the age of podcasts, YouTube, and TikTok. Returning to blogging may seem an unexpected choice with so many other ways to share. But this blog has a special place in my life, and my attachment to it runs deep. It was one of the doors God opened for me, and I still look back fondly on moments from its early days.

I remember colleagues at Taqat employment centers showing me how they had turned parts of my posts into cards they used to teach job seekers how to write CVs and look for work. Other colleagues told me they shared the posts and discussed them with people at work.

I would write about my experience, then hear that someone had found it useful or used it to help someone else. That encouraged me to keep writing and helped me appreciate the effect of sharing knowledge.

Sharing What We’ve Learned

I believe that what we know is first a blessing from God, then the result of learning from teachers, colleagues, and others who shared their knowledge and experiences with us. Much of what we know reached us because someone took the time to explain, write, or answer a question.

Sharing what we’ve learned is one way to repay that generosity and give others the chance to benefit from it and add to it.

That is why I’m returning to the blog with a refreshed design, to continue what I started in 2012. I’ll share my experiences and what I’ve learned from them, reconsider my ideas as I write, and ask God to make what I share useful to those who read it.

In God’s name, we return.

If you’d like to go back to the beginning with me, here is my first post from June 2012, in Arabic: “In God’s Name, We Begin.”
